I have an alternative character, level 36, and I'm looking for tips. Should I try to farm a lot of shards as long as I'm low level, or going on farming xp to reach level 55 the soonest ? Which skills are the best? For the moment, I tend to copy Fartu profile (main monk skills + a little warrior touch) and it works well, but maybe there's other points of view. Last question but not least: are mustaches cool?
Sometimes I feel limited with my warrior build, which is unable to reach very high rift floors. If I master enough the monk's gameplay with this character, one day I may consider to respec Mel in this way too.

There's this character in our guild named Ptyx. He's kinda...some dead weight. I was thinking about giving 'em the boot, what a useless pile of pixels...
I went the route of a couple of wizard skills for power surge as opposed to dabbling in the warrior tree. Power surge has proven to be a life-saver many a time. If I could do it all over again, I probably would do the whole single-coin quick leveling to get to some decent gear for some solid sharding. I know the maths say that lower levels make for higher shards, but I get more shards per boost at 55 than I ever did at 45. Being able to take advantage of decent gear and all those delicious skill points to boost spirit mastery has helped tremendously.
As always, health stones will be your immediate best friend.
Mouthbrows are alright. Just depends. On a lady, though, I can't say that a mouthbrow is attractive in the slightest. Kissing goes from an enjoyable adventure to an exercise in scraping off your upper lip. Then again, she DID go by the name "Bobby", so....hmm. Maybe I shouldn't drink so much.

Raining don't worry about drinking, you dreamed it, you know one of those dreams when you pee in bed I've limited myself to warmonk for few reasons. One is that my skill build provides me with everything i need, so i don't respec. But stat stones also allow me that same pleasure, so i'm not sure how good it would be on lower levels. Altu only respeced once because of arena, but it had pretty similar build to fartu. Another reason for going warmonk is that i think my dps outdamages (not quite sure) my magics, so pure monk seems worse than warmonk when sharding due to aegis. I also use only 1 war. skill (aegis) for sharding, and 2 for rifting (ew), which allows me to play with only 6 spell slots. Wizmonk might be more potent, i've seen great wizmonks like didia, chef, and i'm sure few others, but they all have necro, and also are spreading their shards on 3 stone types instead of 2. I think wiz can provide with great dps, but i just like having hp and hp regen enough to sustain fights. Eventually one hb will kill a champion stank Well maybe for quix after 10 years xd So in the very long run i think monks are the best way to go. I'm warmonk where war part is supportive, meaning i have only disc stones. Similar wizmonk build where wiz part would be supportive might be better (or worse) for sharding, i can't tell since i never tried. It's basically aegis vs 2 stuns and a bubble. I'm sure power surge and few other wiz spells are great, maybe even vs champs, so some different combo might be better. Anyway, each of these 2 builds mean adding only to hp and disc, mostly in hp i suppose, till much later on. There are few who think sharding straight away is the key, and i can't tell they are wrong, since obviously there are great sharders among lower levels. Take for example Jizmakdagusha, 1knvb, spiek, dijotrija, snowmochi, maybe even aholmes10 and nil99. script.google.com/macros/s/AKfycbzCjdpDTsDGf9w_YNFaHDaPXbYAJ-_bl0IeNJwCFTkM11rkV7E/execDijotrija has a guide on forum about sharding on BP (Bewildered plains), while Jizmak, aka Ashtrey, whichever is his main, used both MP and PP (Makeout point and Perilous plains). I have another approach, which is farming on FF (Familiar forest), where during shard run you can also pick up coins if you like for exp gain. In that case, it might be good to leave YC (Yetinothah clearing) unfinished for getting additional coins. In the end i'm not sure what's best. If you go the way of sharding early on, you should know that it will take lots of time to start to feel those shards doing difference, and majority should go to hp i think. Also, allies will be the only way to kill and survive, even on a map like FF i think. Going altu's leveling way will get you up in levels fast, and will give you about 50-70 stones even maybe. Going leveling way will surely give you the most strength in least time. Shard average won't be great at first from then on most likely, but as Raining said, it gives solid base for sharding. Also quix is getting about 500+ shards per run, i'm getting about 440, and i think some others at lvl 55 are getting about 400+ also. For unsharded char lvl 53 i think 200+ shards per run is okay. Depends on your skills, and on your pc condition - if it's old, you'll get less.

Even more, i'd say he's an "abolished bauble of sonorous uselessness". At the time, earthwave was easier to get than power surge and useful even with only one point. But with five points, there's no doubt that the wizard skill is better. Is wizmonk build efficient with only six slots? Thanks to friends, I already complete mondo zones as far as the Dragon Rider. Not bad for a level 36. I still have my old pc mule, so sharding is quite annoying but little by little mustache grows stronger.

I think that at your level with that character, EW is a bit more worthwhile since it doesn't require the point investment. Once you have another extra 10-15 skill points to play with, dumping 10 into the wiz tree for wand damage and power surge could help two-fold: Give you a lovely power generation skill AND some additional damage should you need to use a wand for whatever reason (See: Taking 3 hours to beat Cavernous Tomb by sniping).
As far as the skill-slot limit... I don't know. I've had all 8 since I can remember (thank you stupid surveys for kreds). After looking at it, though... If I were to remove my 2 PvP rewards from the skill-bar, I'd have all 6 that I predominantly use during rift and other everyday functions. Spirit Mastery, healbomb, PB, haste, whirly, and surge. So, I guess it could work. Granted, that's predicated on not using any other wizard skills. I'm too monk-minded to worry about the other ones.

Having unfinished map is what i base my play on, but since you seem to have them all finished with your alt, Mel, i guess there are few things you can do to maximize effects, based on what your goal is:
for leveling, picking coins on Marshlands (1), Familiar forest(3), Yetinothah clearing (2) and Cat Walk (8), 2 times per exp boost,
for sharding, killing champs on Makeout, Familiar and Bewildered 2 times per shard boost.
All these maps should be on g5 i suppose, if all are finished. I would also combine missions during shard boosts, like overgrown and troubled lands, as they can contain champs sometimes.
As for builds, i've been warmonk for ages now, so i have no clue how other builds work on 6 slots. For surviving, mass heal on 1 level is nice to have, and i think i had that in one of the slots for a long time, till i got several hundred stones.
