And once again I'm trying to leave monk's rows...
Ice bats must be uber on damage (250% of Fire Bats). Q1: How many are fired - as many as Fire Bats? Wiki says only 1 O.o True?
Q2: What's the tactics - max Fire bats to lvl5? Take only lvl1? From Wiki - it's linear so maxing to lvl5 makes sense
Firebats Tier (x of 5) | 0 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | Ice Bats Damage | 1 | 10 + (0.75 * S) | 10 + (0.875 * S) | 10 + S | 10 + (1.125 * S) | 10 + (1.25 * S) |
With Mind Mastery and may be Focus can be destructive. Say, S=300 gives 385 on straight line. +30% from Mind Mastery = 500 and you can use Charge.
Q3: How good is it in Rift?
Q4: How good is it in PvP?
Q5: Is it worth 300 Rubies? I already did not get it from gold chests and with my luck will not get from ruby ones. 12 tokens is an answer.
Q6: If I switch to the way of wizard - will I regret the D stones I got from shards?..

So, ice bats are simply great magic. But i never used it myself Anyway i saw what it could do vs me in arena, and i can tell you from that experience - it's devastating. I guess it is useful both in rift and vs champs, and if you're going wiz way, they are good to have. I'd compare it to fire bats as sniper to shotgun. 1 bat, that goes in a straight line, through enemies. If they are stunned, it is 100% critical. Imagine enemy lined up in rift, under one of 2 (or 3) stuns, waiting to be hit by wiz with 700+ sorc (i think) from only his equips In pvp? Devastating. Didia got ice bats today and killed me within 3 seconds, forgetting to stun me first - i have 6k hp. Worth 300 rubies - well if you are going to be full wiz, or hybrid wiz, i guess it can be worth it. Disc stones will be well used if you go reinforced necro i suppose, something like didia's build. I don't see the reason of not taking fire bats on lvl 5, both fire and ice bats are much stronger, and you can use either, and will most likely use both, one at the time, depending on situation. Focus should add to base, so with lvl 53 sorc set giving 25% to sorc, you wonuldn't get focus over that bonus, or any other bonus for that matter. Hope this helps a bit. Always best to talk to strong wiz players on chat, though i can only think of didia and chefski. We have our own in guild of course

Q1: It looks like there are mutiple bats, but they're aligned as one so it only does damage once. The ice bats do pass through mops so one ice bat can damage mutiple mops. Q2: I would max firebats if I were you; if you're going to use it a lot as a high damage skill, just having level one for fire bats would make ice bats rather weak (compared to level five). Q3: It's pretty nice in Rift if you use it on larger groups of mops. It slows down mobs that are hit for a couple of seconds. But then again, it doesn't spread like fire bats so the AoE is smaller. Q4: If you have at least one stun skill, ice bats can turn into a pretty strong killer (when a target is stunned, ice bats will do crit damage). Haven't tried it out in PvP yet. But I've heard some promising things in the chat. Q5: I don't exactly know about that, but hopefully it won't take 12 chests for you Q6: You can always go wizmonk like me: a wizard with a few monk skills. But you should choose whatever build you feel comfortable with.

12 chests, as I said. Conclusion: yes, combining Ice Spiketopus and Ice Bats require some training, but currently with 150 S I can do 500-600 on Rift 35.
Tried to be a striker Wizmonk
Bui badly lack Power for, say, Flame Strike - Ice bats - Ice Spiketopus - Ice bats combo. Penguin is absolutely out of question...
Thinking about getting back EW (-5 Penguin, -1 Staff Mastery). May be even Charge (-5 Penguin, -5 Staff Mastery, -1 Improved healing).
Anyway now I need to dress properly and shard 50-70 more Sorcery. May be even will temporary respec back to Monk with EW and Charge.

I'm finding ice bats and spiketopus to be very useful in rift.

Yes, very likely, but I've got to lvl 46 as Monk, so 0 S shards... And it is noticeable.
Also the question is are Flame Strike and Penguin useful in Rift?
NEED MORE SHARDZZZ...

I told you, with sorc lvl 53 gear, you're already at 700 sorc (i believe, not 100% sure). I remmeber fighting hitori while he was wearing sorc gear, and he had 700 or so sorcery, i suppose it's only from gear, which gives a lot of sorc by itself, and also has 20 or 25% bonus on top. Plus you have focus magic. And stat perk. If you like to keep disc for heals though, necro set is better, but then you lose sorc with it in comparison to sorc gear. As for flame strike and penguin, i can only guess they are super useful, as FS can be devastating with both damage and stun, while penguin can hit many creeps if placed properly, and deal some dmg, especially if you make most of them remain in that circle. I never rifted as wizard, but they might be the most potent in rift of all classes. And due to magic dps, they might be even better vs champs, but i'm too used to be monk

Ice bats are SO worth it. Especially if you are a kite and shoot style player. Combined with a stun they really make rifting easier cause you are doing damage to so many opponents at once. It really helps if you have some speed gear and can get a nice trail of enemies behind you, because the ice bats will go through the entire line doing damage.

I was so used to Whirlwind which is much wider then Ice bats, still not really used to those.
Meanwhile - I slowly progress (+16 S). It slightly makes a difference, but I'm still less confident in Rift than I was as Monk
Cannot decide do I need to spend gold on Wisdom's Smock (vs my current Gi of Pilgrimage low armor, no D)
UPD: at last got an Ancient Cult Hood instead of WHH. I'm getting more like it was expected, probably even will show some results in the next Rift season.
UPD 2: sharding, sharding, but still stuck at lvl 35. Though... Seafood became noticeably easier already - I survived one hopeless last man stand (moonwalk + some speed bonus) but I miss Charge and EW.
