I changed my character's specs to mage for Shimmering Sands and got though it. (Halleluiah!) kong.cloudstonegame.com/main/CharacterViewer?uid=11369293Now, Before I respec, I want some good experienced advice about the skills I am going to need and types of AIs I should call up to help me. Especially in at least in the first part of Mondo. The two Trolgers (priest and the red one) are gonna be a trip as a pure monk, but maybe I can work out raising my health before I reach them, so I can be stronger... I do have the eye see wand, and jubilation (just the first one) so they may be helpful also, OR I could get a good drop! *I never get blessed with a drop pertinent to my character's specs though* I would really like to remain a pure monk. But if I must have a few other skills to get me through until I am stronger, so be it. My gear is very good monk gear. I haven't the gold to buy more and I haven't the rubies to get extra bag space, and I am at capacity now. I keep getting rid of a few of the supplies but still, it is filling up fast. I only have 6 spaces to work with when I am in battle mode, also so I am limited, and I am not quick to change items (I have arthritis and I do struggle at times... probably why I had such a hard time with Shimmering Sands!) So, any and all input is appreciated! Please! I want to hear many views! Thanks everyone! Robbie

You're already lvl 39..? I did Obstruction on lvl 30/31, but noboby cares anyway, so.. Mondo is pretty easy, I guess you can stay as a pure monk. Just summon high levels and there shouldn't be any trouble, enemies have high hp and nothing special except that. (That's how I did everything ) Obstruction (that with these Trollgres, or whatever) is easy too - get strong summon, equip with ranged weapon (staff/wand), "order" summons to attack green one first, then take out red one (green can heal red, but can't heal himself). Watch out for that blue exploding things. DO NOT FINISH UNDERGROUND DUNGEONS. Unless you really want to. Epic Treasure Chest always appears there, and it has really good drops. You propably heard all that stuff, but that's all I know Good luck.

Why not respec after you beat the trollgres if you're more familiar with wizard skills? Pure monks are awful at beating them, especially pure monks with 1.3k hp. Add a lot of 40+ summons and wand from a distance seems a good strategy.
You could switch back to pure monk after that or - warmonk. You can make a build that's still pretty much monk but enables you to use charge and adds a power refill (enrage or earthwave) which helps. Really does.

well, it's just that I have such a high discipline with my gear and low sorcery level to remain a wizard. If I completely go wizard then I would have to sell what I have, and buy all new equipment to bring up my sorcery skills. Look at my specs again.
And like I mentioned, I have few spots for saving anything and little to expand bag space with at this time.
*sigh*

Hmm sorc and disc.... Sounds like the makings of a solid wizmonk build not sure if there will be enough skill points right now but at least healbomb and improved healing from, plus wiz skills to get ice spike, flame, and power up... Could suit you as well at 40 with yetti gauntlet gear. It's great for PvP and decent for rift, especially when you get to 42 with tin claws. Edit: warmonk as onia said is also definitely a good option at 40 you can get reforged glass brand for 90 fury which will allow your earth wave to pack a bit of punch. my biggest problem personally when i am pure monk is the power regen, so earthwave and charge are good for keeping power up.

I see as of me reading this you have already respecd back to pure monk. If that is really what you want that you do not have the essential: Haste. I didn't use it for a long time either but especially for a pure monk you will need it is your best source for power regen as well. I would get the 3 out of PK, you dont need it. That is a max or nothing skill. I would take 2 out of the first tier disc passive as well and then put the 5 free points you would then have into haste.
As for summons. Anyone 45+ usually. Look for contract/ruby/epic gear. All the top all-time rifters are usually a good choice but not always. Some get by on their playstyle and not necessarily their gear so they arent good summons. Also, you dont want someone with high disc and no sorc and have them have points in firebats. If someone has all 3 first tier skills, HB, FB, CB then firebats is always used by default.
Edit: find another 1 skill point for spirit mastery as well. spirit + whirly = BOOMSHAKALAKA
